"TENET" is a mind-bending must-see
Watching Christopher Nolan’s latest movie Tenet, I was reminded numerous times of 2010’s Inception because, like that movie, I’ll have to entertain repeat viewings to fully grasp the world and plot of the film. This movie was a mind-bender.
Basically, the premise is this: A special agent must prevent World War III from happening by undertaking a dangerous mission that involves time manipulation.
A friend of mine pointed out that the movie is about how time affects us and how the film displays (bear with me) a mirror image of time. There’s a plot reason the film’s title is a palindrome.
The special effects are incredible in Tenet. The action scenes and the acting by John Washington, Denzel’s son, was excellent, as was Robert Pattinson, Kenneth Branagh, Elizabeth Debicki and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
The gripes I had with the movie were few, but I felt it focused too much on plot and not enough on character, there’s a middle-Eastern character I enjoyed who disappears for much of the middle portion of the story and there’s a dysfunctional marriage that’s key to the plot that I felt received too much attention. But those are just nitpicks.
I’m not going to spoil the plot of the movie because, honestly, the concept is too fun and unique to spoil. The way the film manipulates time in clever and innovative ways is masterful.
Ignore the critics who are giving the film an average rating just because the plot required brain power.
Do yourself a favor and go see it.
